Calvsie goes to camp July 13, 2007 - 18:31:01
Okay, I was going nuts at work due to the very weird people there... So I volunteered to goto my churches camp and cook for a week!

Sunday:
Camp begins with a trickle... I basically Stood around till supper re-new friendships with most of the counselors who I knew. Supper was hot dogs, I was the person who handed the happy campers hot dogs. yeah me! other wise nothing happened...

Monday:
Camp got itself in full swing today so I was up at 5:30 cooking breakfast. The kitchen staff consist of: Barb, head cook; Connie, Second in command; Julie, The camp nurse; Josh, the clean up crew supervisor; and me, What not boy. I completed a business transaction with some one who paid me to make him three Duct Tape hats... he like one a little more than the others. He promptly stipulated that duct tape couldn't be made into a boat for the end of camp boat race, So I took up the challenge and started work on a duct tape boat... I also recieved a call that would lead me to be depressed on Wednesday. I joined the Jr.s for their camp fire, its was nice.

Tuesday:
by Tuesday we were a well oiled (and fed team). I had the fun job of frying up home made chicken "nuggets" for two hours, and I must say it was more enjoyable than two hours of french frys at the evil arches. I had my sails made and started to contemplate the body of the boat. Got into a good discussion about pentecostal churches with such fascinating topics as: How to fake speak in tongues; Why people fall over; holy oil and its many uses; Christmas trees in churches: and a lot of other weird things... I tried to join the intermediate but after watching them trying to build a campfire being mobbed to tell a story (I have no idea why), and they rolled a log on my foot. So I left...

Wednesday:
I had a bad day, the phone call lead to my afternoon being a washout, some one stole the supports (twist ties) right off my sails, and found that I had forgotten to back something I needed. I stayed in the cabin tonight

Thursday:
Missed working on supper this night because of the boat race tentatively being at 4. it was at 7 after supper. It floated. but didn't have enough sail to catch the limited amount of wind ahwell At least I proved it can be done...

Friday:
Had to pack up adn be out of camp by 11 because the main buildings were rented by a wedding party.... I was sent home with lots of soup, so working in the kitchen does have its perks...

RGS out...
