 So, I was sitting on this footage from the To Slay Zombie Newton concert last weekend, and I was trying to figure out what to do with it. V.H.Steve (of said band), knowing I had shot the film, asked me on Thursday when I was going to put the footage online beyond the short clips in my second video blog. I promised V.H.Steve that I would find some way to get some of the footage up soon. So, I went through the footage I had to see what full songs were usable. My standard was based on Audio quality more than anything else, as the point of the clips was obviously the music itself, and I found a couple of pretty decent audio recordings out of the stuff I had shot...
...but still, where to actually PUT this footage. I mean, they don't belong in the Short Films category, as all I did was slap on a title at the beginning. And while I have no problem hosting other people's creative content (in fact, I'm trying to find a way to encourage you guys to submit stuff - with any luck, the Second Squashing of America is a good kick off), it really didn't have a place in the current parameters.
With that in mind, I decided it was about time that I launch a new section of the site.
Along with the old 1337band song that had been sitting in the Short Films category for far too long, I've placed two of the To Slay Zombie Newton songs ("Jello" and "The Song We Wrote Last Night") in a brand new category entitled Local Music/Geek Rock. The goal of this section is to feature the various musical endeavors of my friends, hopefully spawning wholey original content. If you make music, I want to help feature it on my site - plain and simple. Right now, all of the three things in this category are videos, but they don't have to be. I'm more than happy to put up audio files of your stuff too.
I don't expect a lot of new stuff for the section, but its a good place to start, y'know?
Anyway, I've been throwing a lot of new stuff at you guys the last few weeks - hopefully I can keep the pace up, but I expect things will slow down again (and then pick up tremendously right after NoBrandCon). But it's nice to have new content to give to you guys.
New content is fun.
Of course, if the updates slow down, maybe I'll get back to talking about my life in this space one of these days...
...as if there was much to talk about. *rolls eyes*
(Oh yeah, and remember there's an Open Karma Challenge until the end of October.)
