Bork Con Begins and a Mission...

So those of you who read UnCONventional noticed on Tuesday that I began the Bork Con 2010 plotline. We've been building towards this since December, and I think the entire event will play out quite nicely.

Because this is such a major part of the strip, the "days" of the convention are going to be spread out over a long period of time. Right now, we've just entered into the Thursday night prior to the fictional convention. This will take a couple weeks, and will be the shortest section of the convention plot. After that, each day of the convention will take 4-5 weeks.

So, to keep things straight, most of August will be the Friday of the con, September will be Saturday and October will be Sunday.

I've had this timing in mind for quite a while, and I think it will let me fit in the various storylines I have planned. It's interesting that these three months of the comic are the main point of the strip, yet it's taken me almost eight months to get here. You can't really start with the big event in this kind of story though.

For those curious, comics in November will take place in the few weeks after the convention -- so we'll still be dealing with the fictional August 2010 during the real November 2010. After that, I plan to time jump forward to December 2010 so the worlds line up again.

For the record, Bork Con's "dates" are August 6-8, 2010. This is, in fact, relatively unimportant, but I like to point it out anyways. I only had to firmly set a specific date because I was designing the Official Bork Con T-shirts. This leads me to an entertaining idea -- there are many conventions in the next few weeks, and I think it would be great if we could get some "Bork Con Photos."

So, here's the proposed mission: If you're attending a convention, get a Bork Con T-shirt (Staff, Attendee, Value, doesn't matter) and get photos of yourself at a convention. If you then email them to me at trh@trhonline.com with the subject "Bork Con 2010 Pictures" I'll post them to the website.

You know you want to.
