A Strange Week
Posted Feb 17, 2011 - 9:05:14

CIMG0064.jpgThis week has been, without a doubt, a weird one. I mean, my usual weeks aren't exactly normal per se, but this one in particular seems to stand out.

First off, my week started off poorly with my cracking a molar on Monday. That's right, my week started with my breaking a tooth. Not exactly how you want to start a Valentine's Day, I know. Thankfully, for the first time in my adult life, I'm actually working a job with dental insurance... so this is not a panic moment. I ended up making a dentist's appointment for an in-network dentist just a block away from my apartment for Wednesday.

That night I made dinner for Crysta and myself for Valentine's Day, and we had a nice quiet evening in.

On Tuesday, I watched with pride as family members of mine protested the ludicrous Union Busting Governor Scott Walker is trying to pull in Wisconsin. Half my Facebook feed is full of lively political debate (and a little jackassery), and I'm proud of so many of my friends. Well, even if an argument with one person has ended up being:
Me: Union busting is bad.
Him: OLD PEOPLE DON'T DESERVE MEDICINE!
Me: What?
Peso: What?
Him: OLD PEOPLE DON'T DESERVE MEDICINE!
Seriously, this guy is talking about how we shouldn't use state money to take care of old people. I can't begin to understand how this guy sleeps at night.

Anyhow, on Wednesday I actually went to the dentist, which was - y'know - not fun. They rounded down the jagged edge of the broken tooth, and we discussed my options. I have another appointment next week to put a crown on the tooth, which I am both anticipating and dreading at the same time.

Today is the slow day, one where I am preparing for tomorrow. See, tomorrow Crysta and I are driving up to Wisconsin for Anime Milwaukee. I haven't been to a con since November, so I'm very much looking forward to it. What I'm not looking forward to is parking downtown... but hey, that's life.
