So, I went to a Brewers game yesterday...
Posted June 21, 2006 - 14:16:51

TicketYesterday was my father's birthday. Because of that, we went out to a Brewers game to what we thought was see them play the Detroit Tigers. What it really turned out to be was watching the Brewers get anally violated by the Tigers - as the final score was Tigers 10, Brewers 1... but it was at least nice to get out to the ballpark.

It was, in fact, my first time at Miller Park.

Please don't gasp in shock, and remember that Miller Park went into operation the first year that I was living in Eau Claire, and that as a child I went to my fair share of Brewers games - those games were just at the old County Stadium.

But yeah, I finally went to Miller park, half a decade after it's opening. Bernie Brewer no longer slides into a keg, but onto a base... which I guess is the "cleaned up" version for this day and age. I mean, it's a team called The Brewers, playing in Miller Park (did I mention how relieved I was when I found out that's who bought the naming rights many years back?). I don't think we're hiding the beer endorsement that much by removing Bernie's keg...

But yeah, I'm apparently rediscovering all the bits of Milwaukee I had been ignoring for years - and so far haven't paid to go to any of them myself. So, yeah - I like this streak.

Right now it's raining out, which is nice. I like a nice rain, especially since it had been so warm this last weekend. I have my windows back open, the cool breeze is coming through, and the smell of fresh rain is coming through the room...

...ah yes, moments like this are so nice.

Anyways, I've been working on the new TRHOnline.com project, and it may be one of my most ambitious projects ever. I am not alone in this endeavour, but we may be looking to bring in a new writer.

Yeah, that's right, I said writer.

We may do a limited launch on the 25th, which is the 10th anniversary of TRHOnline. I think that would be appropriate timing, but it depends on whether or not everything is ready. I'd say, eveything is about 90% ready - and considering that just a few days ago I would have put that number around 10%, I think we have something.

I'm going to get back to work on this... it involves a lot of coding...

I never went to Miller Park myself until last September when the Cardinals were in town.  I remember it was Chris Carpenter for the Cards and Chris Capuano was pithing for the Brew Crew that night.  Brewers kicked ass that night.

Yeah, their 10-1 loss last night was somewhat disappointing, but nowhere near as bad as the schlacking St. Louis got from the White Sox.  20-6?  I've only got two words for that: "HOLY WA!"
Miller Park rocks the house, but any food other than beer and hot dogs is GROSS there. I'm glad you got to go!
Now now, the brats are good too.
I don't know about that.  I got sick the last time I ate the brats there, and I've got the peverbial "Iron Gut".  It could have very well been a bad batch that night, so the next time I go there, I'll give 'em one more try.
My first thought when I heard that the Brewers were getting a new stadium was "Who's gonna use County Stadium?"  It took me a second to realize that they were going to tear it down.  I used to pass it all the time.  Haven't been that way in a while.
Right next to Miller Park is a little league diamond, where the home plate is located exactly where home plate was located in County Stadium still.

It's pretty neat, when you think that the kids who play there get to bat at the same spot that Hank Aaron batted...
Yeah, I've been there twice.   Once was, strangely enough, to sing the national anthem in the outfield with a bunch of choir people from Milwaukee and Ireland.  Yeah, Irish people singing the national anthem for a ballgame.

The other time was, depressingly, chaperoning my sister to an N*Sync concert.  Although I am proud of that fact that even with Miller Park's awe-inspiring sound system and the ear-splitting cries of a boy-band past their prime, I was still able to sleep through quite a bit of it.
