So, I was out to sea all week. Got back yesterday. It was pretty cool. No seasickness, and walking around the ship was pretty easy. I was going to update, but they cut off the internet because we were doing combat drills, and the satellite connection to the internet is one of the millions of ways people can find us. seriously, sneezing on the weather deck gives away our position. okay, not really. but i'm sure it could.
(I don't know what this guy next to me is doing, but it is noisy and very annoying.)

we pulled back into port last night around five, and after we moored and swept, I walked off the ship. and then somehting very strange happened.

I was land sick.

I guess it's kinda common. I didn't throw up, but i felt very out of it, and kept expecting the sidewalk to start pitching and rolling.

so i made it back to the barracks, had a beer with some shipmates and went to sleep.

I didn't wake up.

in the United States Navy, if you are a second late, you are UA, which means unauthorized absence. It's the equivalent of being AWOL. Very bad thing.

I was more than a second late. I was actually two hours late. It sucked. My chief was not happy, but he was nicer than he should have been. Fortunately, it isn't going into my record, unless i do it again, which i have no intention of doing.

I was more pissed at myself than my superiors were, which i think they picked up on. See, I wasn't even drunk. I had two beers, and went to sleep. I just steady slept through my alarm.

Oh, well.

I almost forgot my semi cool news. I got my General Quarters assignment while we were underway. (Star trek geeks: General Quarters = Red Alert.) I'm on the SCAT Team. Small Craft Attack Team. I man a gun and shoot people and boats that try to attack us. And the gun is so badass. It's a Mark 19, which is an automatic, belt fed grenade laucher. It'll blow the shit out of anything. Normally, I wouldn't be excited about this, but even a pacifist would like this gun.

okay, enough about my weapon. I really don't have much to add. Lonely, but happy. I've got lots of friends, but none that are female, which sucks. but I'm working on that. Whatever. I'm out.
