And Samhain comes again.
Posted Oct 31, 2005 - 13:26:23

PentagramSo, today is October 31st - Halloween for some, and Samhain for a few more. I've always enjoyed this marker for the year - the beginning of winter in the two season calendar, the beginning of a new year.

Well, I won't get too much into the spiritual side of this, as the majority of the people who read this website aren't of the same religious affiliation as me, but I will say that it's kind of a big deal for me on levels that we shall not discuss -- But it's been a good one so far.

Yesterday I spent just with Erika. We saw "Everyman" at the University theater - which was interesting to say the least. Considering it's a modern staging of a 13th century morality play, which was based off of a 2000 year old Buddhist parable that had gotten to Europe via the silk trade, it was bound to be at least that. I liked it, but I know several people who didn't.

Afterwards, Erika and I went out to lunch at El Patio - and then spent the rest of the day studying in the library. We ended the day with a little bit of West Wing - which I still love. We watched this week's episode, and then several from my Season 4 DVDs.

Today has been so so, but again - it's Samhain/Halloween, so I'm sure I'll find *some* way to have fun. *grin*

I saw it on Sunday as well. While the overall production was okay, I felt that some of the actors didn't fully understand the meaning of the dialoge. That and Everyman sort of came off as an angsty medieval version of emo. However, the dancing was the most interesting and enjoyable part. :c)
