Changing Comic Gears
Posted Oct 5, 2011 - 10:41:02

Chronicles of CrosarthSo, those few of you who read Irresponsible Irreverence have noticed that today's update did not contain a comic. Instead, it contained an announcement.

An announcement that Irresponsible Irreverence is ending.

I talked about this briefly last week, but I thought I'd elaborate on this decision in depth here. I've been drawing Irresponsible Irreverence for over a year now, and frankly I've never been completely happy with the results of the comic. I mean, there are a few installments that I absolutely love, but then there are others which are, frankly, blatant filler. Single panel gags are about the hardest thing in the world to write, and while I don't think I failed at it - I'm frankly running out of ideas at this point.

Coinciding with my altogether frustrating writers block with that strip came the inspiration for Chronicles of Crosarth. In just a few days I was able to come up with a full cast, a world with a lot of depth, and a long term story arc.

As I only have time to do two webcomics right now (and there is no way I'd end UnCONventional any time soon), I thought that I'd shift gears. I'd instead do an ongoing Chronicles of Crosarth series, and end Irresponsible Irreverence. I know a few of you (well, like one of you) will be disappointed, but it's for the best.

Chronicles of Crosarth with likely keep to a twice a week schedule, but not the Wednesday/Friday of Irresponsible Irreverence. It will assume a Monday/Wednesday schedule, as it will eventually let me more easily expand to a three day a week set up if I need it to. I also may periodically add an Irresponsible Irreverence on Fridays if I ever come up with a particular idea.

So yeah, my weird experiment comes to an end so I can launch a different weird experiment instead.

Chronicles won't launch until I build a buffer, as I want to make sure the story doesn't falter (as November will be quite busy for me). Once it does though, I hope you'll enjoy it.

And tell your friends.

Like all of them.

And force them to read it.

And maybe buy a T-shirt.

Well then I guess I'll have to look forward to this new comic then. But oddly it's got me thinking about a self insert I once wrote about back when I was teenager.

Well anyways good luck on this new comic.
