So back in 2002 I was still reading superhero comics, and back then a couple of things always bothered me:
- Who was sewing the spandex for all of these characters?
- Why are the female characters always dressed in hyper-sexual outfits in battle?
Now, I knew the
real answers to these questions, but it always bothered me in-universe. What I decided to do was create a superhero who solved both of these issues for me. A woman superhero who wore a costume that you could imagine yourself wearing if you were going to go try and punch muggers.
After designing the character, and writing up a quick backstory,
I mocked up a fake promo for her as well.
After thinking about DC's relaunch (and the issues that come with some of their policies on female characters' outfits), I randomly decided to revisit the character. I've tweaked the design (and obviously my art style has changed over the years), but it's pretty much the same idea.
Enjoy.
