Random Art - Duct Tape Boy Waves! |

Today's art isn't from
one of my comics, but instead one of the
No Brand Con Mascots. It is, of course, the ever important Duct Tape Boy.
Drawing Duct Tape Boy is hard, because he is, by declaration of the character's creator, never meant to be represented as "cool."
I've tried different approaches in the past to drawing him, sometimes completely ignoring that dictum, but this time I took it to heart. This attempt was really designed to bring out the "cute" aspects of the character - which is a massive challenge. Why? Because the cute aspects of the character are usually done through the
actions of the actor who plays him. When you're taking stills of that, you just end up with a guy who looks like a duct taped mummy.
I think this pulls it off though, and I expect I'll be integrating this (or something similar) into the new No Brand Con website which will roll out in a month or so.
