2009 in Review (Vlog 4.3) Jan 3, 2010 - 23:14:23
While I documented 2009 less than 2008 and 2007, I did get a lot of stuff on film -- along with a few cartoons. So this is just a simple look back at my personal 2009. Not a bad year at all, all things considered. Not a bad year at all.
Music in this entry is, of course, my cover of Koshuudenwa that I recorded this last spring. It really doesn't have to do with anything so much as it's yet another piece of 2009 to add to the pile.
What a year.
In 2009 I found myself unemployed for two months. In 2009 I finally got around to running a convention all by myself even though I co-founded it many years ago. In 2009, Crysta finished her undergrad at UWEC. In 2009 - and this is the big important one - I got engaged to the lovely Crysta. There was some life changing stuff in there, and things continue to move forward at a rapid pace.
2010 looks to be even bigger for me than 2009. In 2010 I'll finally leave Eau Claire... and I mean it this time (as opposed to the two other times I've tried to move away from here). In 2010 I'll also get married -- and that's the biggest deal of them all. I'm not sure where we'll end up living, but I'm excited about it none-the-less.
Things are, in fact, looking up.
I don't have a lot of deep reflection. Beyond some friendship-related turbulence in December (which is still rumbling parts of my personal life - and you have no idea how desperate to resolve it I am), 2009 was a very good year for me. What we've lacked in material gains, we've more than made up for in spirit.
