 So you really thought I wasn't going anywhere with Wednesday's Guide to Being Awesome thingie, didn't you. Anyways, as the comic's background implies, today is the first day of Daisho Con. This is my first convention in a while (a while being since April), and I'm a little giddy.
Yes, Trae is "giddy." Get over it.
Now some of you might be saying "Trae, No Brand Con wasn't that long ago!" To you I say "Shut the heck up!" Actually, when you consider that at this time last year, I had also been to a convention in August and one in September, 2009 has been pretty convention light for me. Also, No Brand Con is a whole different world for me compared to other cons, as I am one of the people who is in charge of it (heck this last year I was THE guy in charge).
So, Daisho Con is a bit of a big deal for me. Sadly I have to work today, so I won't get there until 8:30pm or so tonight. I can live with that though, as it's sure a whole lot of a heck better than not getting there at all.
I thought about trying something like what happens in the fictional world that is stick figure land, but I only entertained that idea for a second. Contrary to popular belief, I am not that big a deal in my own head - I just find that saying that I'm "awesome" is hilarious. Since we charge their people money to go to our convention, it would be extremely jerk-like of me to not pay their significantly lower registration fee to get into their convention.
Last year I vended at Daisho Con, when I was performing Peso and Vinnk's experiment of expanding Rising Stuff's convention presence, so this is the first time I'll get to actually enjoy some of the events that happen later in the evening. At the last Daisho Con I had to keep restraining myself and making sure I went to bed early and so forth...
This year? Not so much.
I'm actually doing a panel too. I'm on a panel hosted by "convention veterans" about weird con stories. I forgot what the final name is for it, but it's at 10:00 am on Sunday if you want to catch it. The list of panelists also includes Adam (aka 1stAgent), Cheesus, and another person who I really don't know. The funny thing is, I actually wasn't sure if this panel was still happening until recently. Likewise, I wasn't sure that I was on it until I double checked the Daisho Con program guide online. It should be pointed out though that this is my failing, not theirs. I sort of forgot about it for a little while. I'm excited for it though, and really that's the whole point. I know a lot of the people who read this blog will be there too, so I look forward to seeing you as well.
