News of the World Returns... | |

 Today marks something relatively unimportant: Today is the day I revive News of the World. Okay, so many of you may not remember that a year ago I did an old timey newsreel for No Brand Con's 2007 plotline starring Duct Tape Boy -- but I know a few of you do remember. I created the video as a filler moment to set up a minor plot point, but since people liked it, I thought it might be fun to do a new one.

Rather than Duct Tape Boy fighting Egyptian Space Mummies or something, I decided to cover current events. Of course, it's still News of the World, so there is plenty of humor injected, and I've added a spin to the end in the same vein as Egyptian Space Mummies invading Peru, but most people should get the jokes in the new News of the World without having to be familiar with the No Brand Mythos.
I've been considering turning this into a regular series, but I want to know what you guys think about the new spin on it in the new installment. Think of this like it's a pilot episode -- and you guys are going to be my focus group to see if the network (being just me in this case) will pick it up for a full season.
Exciting, I know.
I'll probably put up a poll about it later today on the front page of TRHOnline.com -- so voice your opinion. Again, I want to know what the heck you guys think about this bizarre little experiment.
Speaking of networks, we may finally have an end to the writer's strike. That makes me happy. I certainly hope the writers got a decent deal in any case. Maybe I should have launched this series during the writers strike... ah well. Could be worse.
Things in general have been going all right, it seems like everyone is finally starting to be healthy again. Not being sick is something I will officially now be appreciating on a regular basis.
The temperature has been annoyingly low though, I'm not sure the thermometer even got above zero yesterday, and while today is a smidge warmer, I wouldn't call a high of 6 degrees a scorcher by any reasonable means. As much as I like living in Wisconsin, this sort of weather makes me wonder if I'm insane.
And it happens every year you know.
Because it's Wisconsin.
On the upside, I'm not in Alaska.
Of course it's 0 degrees Fahrenheit here right now, and 8 degrees Fahrenheit in Anchorage, Alaska... god damn it...

You know that NEWS OF THE WORLD was my favorite video of yours, but I'm not sure what to think of this one. The silliness might be a bit too late in the video for what I liked about the spirit of it. The sound seemed a bit off, but that could just be my computer.
No... the sound is most definitely off. I was trying something new, and I don't like it. If I do another one, I'm going to use the original sound settings.
Representing George W. Bush with Ming the Merciless wasn't silly enough early on?
It's probably because I didn't recognize the clips, and thus didn't get any jokes that weren't spoken.
