Holy Crap, Anna got Married.
Posted Sep 25, 2006 - 17:22:25

WeddingOkay, so my friend Anna had been engaged to her now husband Mike for a few years, and they already were married once already in Mali (while Anna was a Peace Corps worker) - so this isn't really a surprise or anything. But still, it's rather odd to me that one of my better friends from high school is married. It really boggles my mind.

I ended up riding down to Milwaukee with Anna's younger brother Phil, who was kind enough to detour through Eau Claire so I could go to the wedding. We ended up heading down early Saturday morning, and I got to my parents' empty house (as they were out of town this weekend) by mid-afternoon. I spent Saturday bumming around, just sitting online, talking to peoples. So, yeah, nothing really interesting there.

On Sunday, I picked up Derek at 4:00pm (as he still doesn't have a driver's license yet), and went to go head out to the wedding (which was at 5:00pm). Now, a couple of things here: I don't live in Milwaukee anymore. I mean, I spend occasional time there, but I'm not used to navigating it these. What I'm even less used to is what they've done to the freeway system in Milwaukee. The entire things is a friggin' mess, and me (like the goon I am) repeatedly tried to get around on them... before finally giving up and taking side streets to South Shore Park (where the wedding was). Total travel time? 45 friggin' minutes. *shakes head*

Anyways, the actual ceremony was beautiful - done outside right on Lake Michigan. It was very, very cool. Afterwards, the reception was held at a building in the park. The entire evening was surreal, as I ended up talking with people I haven't seen since High School... for those of you keeping track, that was over seven years ago for me. Some people it was nice to see, others... well, it was nice to see them, but honestly - they are people that it wouldn't have made a big difference to me if I had never seen again. It was good music, some good friends, and a very fun time - if a little disconcerting on occasion.

Derek and I headed out at about 10:20pm, and taking side streets... it only took about 20 minutes to get home...

...god damn, Milwaukee is screwed up right now.

Anyways, Phil swung by my parents' house at the ass-crack of dawn, and we drove back northwards. I have a few more notes about the wedding, but I'll direct you to my earlier message board post... so yeah.

Ah well ~ I have work that needs to get done...

Looking at the site logs, I thought it was odd that someone had commented on such an old post.

Reading said comment leads me to point out that the word you were searching for is "psych" -- and it's very strange to go onto someone's personal blog/journal and criticize them for talking about their life... as that is the entire point of the space.

The real question is why were you reading it?
Trae-
I wouldn't waste much time on this person.  Anyone who would post something about a blog such as this one from so long ago and not identify themselves is just trying to get a rise out of you.  My guess is they were either really bored, drunk, or an old friend you don't talk to anymore just trying to humiliate you.  Anyway, they sound like a total moron so don't worry about a coward like that.
Mary -- it doesn't bother me.  It entertains me.

They're just some random person off the web.
