A Daytime Thunderstorm
Posted May 30, 2006 - 13:36:15

StormRight now it's raining. It's calmed down quite a bit, and it's slowing down to a drizzle. Before though, it was coming down pretty hard. I can still hear thunder ringing in the background.

A cool breeze or rain scented air is coming through my room right now, and the birds have started chirping again.

It's nice. Very, very nice - and a wonderful way to have an afternoon begin.

Yesterday, I went and hung out with Chris and Derek for a while. As I've mentioned previously, Chris is in town for a little bit here as he is on leave from the Navy. We went out and saw X-Men 3, which was sadly disappointing. I mean, the first two X-Men films were really good, but the third was... well... not. Don't get me wrong, there were some very good moments - and the cast of the film was fantastic - but the script was just very unfortunate. It makes me wonder what the film would have been like if Brian Singer had stayed with the film series.

After the film we hung out for a while in Derek's backyard. We chatted for a while, but not really about anything all that deep. Afterwards I went home, and discovered...

...TRHOnline.com had been hacked. The forum system to be precise. Fortunately, the hackers decided not to do any major damage to the site (which makes us very, very lucky), but I spent half the afternoon setting up and recustomizing a new (more secure) version of PHPBB.

Everything should be, for all intents and purposes, working perfectly fine now. I've even re-added guest voting to the Semi-Irregular Polls. The only things that remain to be done are the customizations to things like the Profile Templates (reintegrating the TRHBlogs portion for example) and the like. It's something that bugs me, but all major services (like TRHBlogs, Comments, etc) that use the integrated site login have been kept compatable.

Needless to say though, after that mess, I wanted a quiet evening. So, I kicked back with the latest Doctor Who and called it a night. I stayed up waiting for the promised Thunderstorm which wouldn't come until today.

Hmmm... it looks like the rain has finally stopped. Still smells good though. Once it clears up a bit I think I'm going to go out and take a walk.

Walks are good.

That crazy squall last week...Sam & I got caught in it as it rolled in. We were driving from South Milwaukee up to 76th street, and it was a scene right outta ID4. It seriously looked like a big-ass spacecraft comin' right for us!
