How to Win a Free Coke
Posted Nov 13, 2005 - 0:39:13

Coke ViewingSo Coca Cola is running another "Win a free Coke!" promotion - which effectively means I won't be paying for Soda for a while now.

Why? Because if you know what you're doing, you'll never pick a losing bottle of Coke (or Diet Coke as I tend to drink that more often). I just buy one Coke, and then chain my winners again an again and again. So, this is me, sharing the "secret" to picking a winner.

First thing you do is lift the bottle over your head - don't tip it. Tipping doesn't work. Look up at the angle depicted in the graphic. (If you can't see the graphic, you're blind. If you're blind, this trick doesn't work... so just give it up already.) If you rotate the Coke you will eventually see the last line of the Coke cap, slightly distorted by the lip of the bottle. The word will either be "AGAIN" or "PRODUCT" (If there is another prize, you may see a line related to that). The AGAIN comes from the phrase "PLEASE PLAY GAME AGAIN" and the PRODUCT comes from the phrase "YOU WIN A 20 OZ COKE PRODUCT."

Guess which one you want to pick.

Now some people tell me this is "Cheating." It's not. If the product were being damaged, altered, or otherwise manipulated in a way that is not legal - it would be Cheating. No my friends, this is well within the rules of the "Contest," so it is not cheating. The word you all are searching for is EXPLOITING. I am exploiting a flawed system. In my opinion, all I'm doing is inspecting a product in a completely passive way before choosing it for purchase.

Only a hair's difference between the two ideas? Perhaps. But sometimes it only takes a hair to tilt the scale.
