Today, good things happened.
Posted Aug 11, 2005 - 19:38:23

Morning Mists on a Lake I miss... say that five times fast...I'm in a good mood right now, and for what I believe to be a good reason. Today was a good day. Why? Because the following things happened.

1. I got a letter from Chris, my friend who recently joined the Navy. He's in Basic right now. Apparently, he misses Cigarettes, Alcohol, and Women. Really, I think we can all understand. It seems like he's doing well though, and I think he'll survive without the vices of his former civilian life. I have to make sure I write him back, as I probably won't see him for quite some time (he finishes Basic after I go back to Eau Claire).

2. I got my old job back at PDC, doing the phonebook thang. That means steady income for the rest of the time I'm in Milwaukee, working for people I generally like. It will mean no more late nights, as I'll have to be on the road to work at 7:30 in the morning, but if Chris can make it without cigarettes and booze, I think I'll be alright - y'know?

3. I spent the afternoon playing videogames with Derek, which was fun. He's going out of town for a little while, but it turns out he'll be back before I go back to Eau Claire so we'll be able to hang out a few more times still - so all is cool. I beat him in Worms though, for like the first time in a while. We also discovered an amusing bug in the AI for that game too...

4. Anna is back in America from her Peace Corps stint in Africa. I got the e-mail about it this morning, but have yet to have the chance to give her a call. I'll probably do so tonight or tomorrow though. Huzzah, and stuff.

So, all in all, a very good day. Oh yeah, and some guy randomly approached me on the street and said "Josh?" To which I laughed. This is probably the bazillionth time someone has assumed I'm someone I'm not... and it's always different names to. I've been called John, Josh, Aaron, Mike, Steve... and a few more I can't remember. I must have a very common face. Either that, or people are just bad at recognizing their friends.

I'm glad you got your job back!

Taeliac/Sam and I met up with Derek recently, too, at the Bristol RenFaire.
