Someone tell me to stop watching Star Wars stuff...
Posted Jan 1, 2005 - 21:34:12

Lumpy says: C'mon, punch me in the face!So I rewatched the entire Star Wars original trilogy over the last two days -- which is the first time I've sat through the whole set of episodes IV through VI in a couple of years, and I decided to listen to the commentary track. The one thing that always annoys me is Lucas's revisionist history on things somedays. He doesn't like to admit that a mistake was made, or that he didn't do anything right -- like the conflicting stories about the "Revenge/Return of the Jedi" issue, and whether he ever really intended "A New Hope" to be the fourth episode, blah blah blah...

But what I really don't like is something that I'm sure at least tens of other fans would want to have included in at least the "Documentaries" section -- The Star Wars Holiday Special. A program which features Boba Fett's first appearance, and the only on film visit to Kashyyyk (the Wookiee homeworld) is at least an interesting footnote, even if it is one of the worst things to watch ever.

Ah well, at least one group of people are all about keeping the memory of The Star Wars Holiday Special alive, as evidenced by this website. Much in the way I built my shrine to Shaq Fu, these guys have put together a comprehensive site about the Holiday Special. From Lumpy to Itchy to Bea Arthur, they've got all the details you never wanted to look at.

Anyways, I had a fairly fun New Year's Eve, hanging out with Derek and some peoples. We played Halo 2 for many an hour, watched the second Resident Evil movie, and then just hung out and talked until 7:00 am or so.

Don't worry guys, I won't talk about Star Wars anymore for a bit. I'm putting the DVDs away, and you won't have to listen to my nerdish rants on the subject. Well... at least not until Episode III comes out. *grin*
