So, today is one of those days where I bore you with nothing but hypotheticals and randomness to obscure the facts behind an entry, while still allowing me to complain and comment on the universal truths that seem to permeate my rarely simple life.
See, today I found myself doling out advice that I should really be taking myself. Rather than discuss the core issues involved though, I thought I'd just share the advice.
1. Do not worry about things that you cannot control. It may seem like simple advice, but more often than not I (and certain friends of mine whose names I won't mention) occasionally need to chill out. If you don't know what's going on, worrying about worse case scenarios is only going to give you an ulcer, and not actually help anything. If you find yourself in a position where you can't find out what's going on either, just understand that, and don't stress on it.
2. People will never be anything other than themselves. We sometimes want to fit people into the categories and personalities that we want them to be. We sometimes want to change them to fit our world view of the way things "should" be and the way they "should" work out. That is a wholey bad idea. People are who they are, and will never change by any will other than their own.
Sometimes things won't work out the way we want them to, and people aren't who we want them to be. This may seem like a simple thought, but it's one that I think I (and at least one of my friends) needs to be reminded of on a more regular basis.
