A Simple Day, With Little To Mention
Posted June 22, 2004 - 21:24:43

A Simple Photo For A Simple DayToday started out like any ordinary day, and has continued as such. I went out to attempt to run a mile again this morning, and I got a little further before having to walk a little. I think I'll be able to do a full mile without having to take a walk break by the end of the week... or at least that's what I'm trying for. *grin*

My parents went out of town for the next week today - they're going to the Dakotas. Yes, I know, very exciting. If you find staring at the North Dakota plains, plains which Theodore Roosevelt once claimed, "[...] stretch out in death-like and measureless expanse, and as [a man] journeys over them they will for many miles be lacking all signs of life," exciting.

Well, they're going to South Dakota too, and I've hear Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse monument are pretty neat, so that's something at least.

I did a decent job canvassing today, getting less than my goal, but well enough beyond my quota to make me think I'll hit my goals by the end of the week, if not tomorrow. I canvassed at Brady and Farwell again today, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to work. The people in that neighborhood are fun to talk to, so I don't get bored when it slows down.

Afterward I grabbed a coke and some gummi bears from the store, and headed home. I curled up to an episode of West Wing, and watched Secret Service Agent Simon Donavan and the Qumari Defense Minister Abdul Shareef get killed again. I always get a little misty when Simon buys it -- because frankly, I'm a huge softy. I've gotten to the point where I flip the channel right before Simon gets killed, and flip back when I know it's happened. I just can't watch it again.

Yeah, I'm a huge softy.

Of course, I sit back in awe as Shareef gets killed. It's just so unreal, and the scene switching to Martin Sheen's Jed Bartlet realizing what he's just authorized is striking in it's simplicity. A simple facial expression conveys the pain of the character, and it's a testament to Martin Sheen's acting abilities...

...either that, or Sheen just had gas that day. I'm not sure.

Anyways, that's really all I've done today. Is it boring? Quite. Is it pathetic that the most exciting thing that's happened to me today is watching an old episode of the West Wing? Maybe. I don't know.

But I had fun, and I guess that's what counts, eh?
