What in the hell is going on?
Posted Apr 21, 2004 - 10:56:02

Yesterday was... very very odd. So, a while ago I offered to help with the Flipside website. You know, donate some time, help put together a backend for it. But it was very much in a "I could help if you need it" sort of way. So, yesterday I'm told "You should go to the Flipside meeting on Tuesday." So I figured, what the heck, I'll go. I get there, and I found out they were doing elections. Well, that seemed cool. I've written two articles this semester, so I was eligible to vote. And apparently I was running for a position...

Ba-wuh?

Apparently, multiple people knew I was running for the position of Webmaster for the Flipside's website... and no one bothered to tell me. Mind you, I accepted the nomination, so I'm not being roped into doing something that I don't want to do. I think it will be fun to finally get my vision of what that site should be online. I ran unopposed, so I won by default. That's right, you're looking at the new webmaster of the Flipside's website... geh. I take over theoretically two weeks before the end of the semster.

*shakes head*

Anywho, that was most of the evening's weirdness. There was a little more tossed on for good measure though. Late last night, when I was talking online with a couple of people (Befu, Leah), I got a very random instant message over ICQ. It was from a UIN I didn't recognize, and was the simple message "Happy Holidays". Needless to say, I was confused. I looked up the user info, and it was none other than Drew Niese. Huh. Some of you may recall Drew Niese from that time I made fun of him and his friend. Really, that's the last time I gave Mr. Niese any real thought. But, out of the blue, he sends me a single instant message...

...what the frickin' hell?

So, needless to say this little communique is still confusing me this morning as well. And really, what's up with the "Happy Holidays" part too?

In my daily dose of geek news, I offer you a news story on Sex.com's legal battle with Verisign. This is important, because this case sets important precedents, including domain names as property, and any webgeek like me needs to actually pay attention to it's implications.

You, of course, don't care... so I'll just let those who are interested go read the article.

Well, on that note, I think I'm going to go get something to eat, as I am rather hungry right now.
