So... much... anime... so... little... time...
Posted Apr 3, 2004 - 20:27:49

I was up until 5:30 am last night watching Full Metal Alchemist at Otaku Anonymous. That's such a damned good show. I've finally seen through episode 25 - and since episode 26 didn't air in Japan until today, it means I'm essentially as caught up with the series as I can possibly be. When this comes out in the US, I am DEFINITELY buying it, no questions. Watching fansubs has actually encouraged me to buy anime... huh. Watching the downloaded copy has prompted me to buy the product - I wonder where I've heard someone suggest this theory before...

Anyhow, right now about 15 of us are sitting here and brainspiking Utena. We're in the beginning of season 2... this is where the show gets good. Usually I detest shows like Utena, but for some reason I like it. There's just something about it which makes me ignore the angst and pink that makes me want to ignore programs like this completely...

...mind you, I'm talking about the TV series. The Utena TV Series is good, the movie is NOT. Don't watch the movie - it takes place in an alternate continuity, so you don't need it for any plot reasons. Avoid the movie if you value your head not exploding. Exploding head equals bad.

Just keep that in mind.

Speaking of anime series, at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show they premiered probably the best motorcycle that the world has ever seen. What is it you ask? Why it's Kaneda's bike! That's right, Kaneda's frickin' motorcycle from Akira- not a model, not a replica, but a real, running motorcycle. They're going to actually sell them, although they haven't set a price yet. You can look at photos of the glorious vehicle at this website. (TETSUOOOOOOO!) I would kill for this motorcycle, I swear.

I'm going to sit here, watching Utena for many more hours. We're going to end at the end of Season 2 tonite, and watch Season 3 tomorrow - because we need to get sleep sometime, and too much Utena in a row can cause people's heads to explode. This is the weekend of Anime, definitely.

In the completely unrelated department, Erin sent me the funniest link today while she was at work. It's a website called "WholesomeWear", and it's just... weird. They're selling swimwear that "Highlights the face, and not the body". What it is, is the only swimsuit you'd ever be willing to see your 100 year old greatgrandmother in. Sadly, they're not marketting it towards the "icky, you're old" crowd, but towards everyone else. It's essentially a wetsuit, with a waterproof baggy dress over it. Honestly, those who are so ashamed of their own bodies, or paranoid about "corrupting" the youth... geh. Let me tell you.

Well I can't speak for anyone else other than myself, but this is either the most hilarious or most idiotic thing in the world. Of course, I guess it really could be considered both.

Ah well, I'm going back to socializing and getting off of my laptop. You kids be nice to each other, and no one catch anything, y'here?
