The Quiet Before The Storm.
Posted Mar 11, 2004 - 11:37:46

Tomorrow is the convention. Holy crap.

You could cut the tension around the tables with a knife lately, as everyone seems poised to leap into action...

...and all I do is sit here.

It's so strange not being involved with the con beyond my existence as Derek's Paypal lackey. I just host Hanzo the Razor now, and that's it. Other than that, I'm just a normal person on a vendor pass... but I'm watching it all come together in front of my eyes.

It's all pretty amazing, and a little nerve wracking at the same time. Being empathic, and around this many stressed out people, is having an adverse effect on me. Tomorrow, all hell will break loose - and it should be quite the spectacle... but until then, the world around me is a tensed muscle, waiting to be released.

I have so much crap to get done today. I need to write a reaction paper to an essay I haven't read yet for English, along with a short research assignment for my Astronomy class. I also need to make progress on my research paper for English, which is due on Monday/Wednesday (complicated due dates for that class, I'll explain some other time). Geh. Not to mention, I have NO IDEA when Derek is coming into town tonite, so I don't know when I have to be up the hill. Is he coming in time for dinner? Is he coming late? Will he show up at 3pm while I'm still in class? I have no frickin' clue.

Well, on the upside, Chris (Parch), Heather, and John (Derek's little brother) are coming too - and I haven't seen them since January - so much funn will abound. That's the great thing about NoBrandCon, it actually get's people to visit me in this po-dink nowhere town. Yay peoples!

In completely unrelated news, I'm really disgusted with the concept of Keyword stuffing. It's an old trick, whereby you insert invisible text into a webpage to increase it's search engine position. Now, usually it's just porn sites doing this, and some amateurs... but what's really disturbing is when you see a news outlet in a major metropolitan area doing it. Go to the black space under the Google Ads, and you'll be able to highlight (and therefore see) the invisible text. This is horrendous, and unprofessional.

Grrr.

Anywho, I've been thinking about adding a direct comment spot on my blog, rather than just having people use the forum. Mind you, you SHOULD be using the forum, constantly even. But I think a direct reply field in the blog entries would probably be beneficial as well.
