Don Quixote ain't got nothin' on me.
Posted Jan 27, 2004 - 10:47:37

Last night I slept. I laid down in bed, and slept.

The questions that stirred my mind are no longer swirling, and while I may not like their answers, I have what I needed.

Now, I stand with my hands unladen, and my mind clear.

I feel like a subtle reference to the musical "Man of La Mancha". I say that, instead of the book it's based off of, because I've never read the the book, but I'm very familiar with the theatrical production. I feel like Quixote after he's fought the Knight of the Mirrors. My illusions shattered, and the noble ideals I thought true were merely dreams that existed only in my head.

Well, maybe it's not quite that bad, since the shattering of Quixote's illusions killed him, and I have no intention of going anywhere... but still.

At least they were splintered before I had a chance to do anything that would make me look stupid. You have no idea how foolish I would have looked had this been a week later.

Ah well, such is life.

I have class with Majestorovic this semester, he's teaching the Poli Sci 122 class I'm taking. In fact, I'm sitting in that class right now.

WiFi in classrooms is so going to get me in trouble one of these days.

But, in any case, he's one of my favorite professors, and at least it's a bright point in an otherwise shitty day.

And, as I said earlier, my insomnia is over. I still didn't get much sleep last night because I was out at the Joynt for Pokey's 21st birthday...

...where I made a fairly large ass of myself, but that's already been covered by the earlier part of this post.

But, at least when I got back to my room, and finally laid down, I was able to go to sleep. My heart rate is back down to where it normally is too, so hey -- at least I've got my health, eh?

Or at least some semblance of it.

But, I move forward -- now with at least the understanding of what's real and what isn't.

But I liked my illusion better.
