So, this (now completed) weekend Erin came down to visit, so we could celebrate her birthday. I gave her a pair of fuzzy Garfield slippers - which were a very me thing to give her. And now that I've given them to her, I can tell you the story of how I aquired them...
On Wednesday, Derek (Roach) and I hit the road to go find buy these. I had it in my head that we were going to get bunny slippers, so we decided to start shopping. Our first stop was Target. So, we get to target, and we start looking for Slippers... and find nothing. Nada. Zip. I find some cheap, basic NORMAL slippers eventually, but no oversized slippers anywhere. So, we move on. After Target, we head over to Walmart. When we get there, we continue our inevitably fruitless journey. We go straight to the shoes, find some stupid bathroom slippers, and find nothing of value. We ask a staff person, who tells us "Umm, you'd be best looking around the holidays for that sort of thing". Since I seriously doubted that Erin would want to reschedule her birthday for November, Derek and I headed out to continue to look. We then went to Kohls. When we got there, we had pretty much the same experience as Walmart. This is also when I notice that all of these department stores are literally selling the same eight pairs of bathroom slippers... yeesh.
So, after our multiple department store run, Derek and I go to the Mall. The first thing we do is... check another department store. Marshall Fields gave us the now familiar reply...
So, on to the rest of the mall! We stop by the Disney store... and have no luck. I'm glancing into every shoe store as we walk by, just to see if they have any slippers, which of course they don't. Finally, we stop by Hot Topic. Hot Topic has Bunny Slippers, but they're not the kind of slipper that Erin asked for... so we make a mental note of them, and move on. Finally, we arrive at Spencers....
There, upon arrival, I spot the now blessed Garfield slippers. They're over priced, they don't have bunnies on them... but they're the right kind of slipper. It was an option. Derek and I chose to stop looking for the day - I wanted to think about whether to go and buy the Hot Topic slippers or the Garfield ones. It was a tough choice...
Thankfully, Erin likes Garfield. (*smile*)
This weekend she and I went to the Zoo, and to the Milwaukee Public Museum also. We had a good time, and we got to see all of the neat animals and dinosaurs and stuff. It was good. Unfortunately though, it'll be at LEAST another three weeks until I see her again... which sucks. Sucks big time. Big big suckage. Grrr... This will be so much better when I'm living in Eau Claire again, I swear...
